These are software tools that are installed as add-ins to Microsoft Word (see requirements below). The myWriterTools toolbar will appear in the menu bar of Word.

The basic product includes a number of easy to use tools that will find mistakes that are missed by Word's spelling and grammar checking. The tools include:

• Lighten Up. Finds all long words and sentences in your document and makes it easy for you to shorten them to increase your document’s readability. See more information about document readability statistics and how to improve your document's readability.
  
  
• FormatFixer. Automatically perform 10 common operations on your entire document to fix punctuation problems such as extra spaces and changing underlined words to italics.
  
  
• WordFlipper. Examine your entire document for over 700 commonly misused words. It displays the meaning of each found word with a possible substitute with its meaning. Plus, you can add your own words.
  
  
• JargonBuster. Examine your document for over 350 commonly misused words or phrases that are considered jargon. One click of the button will replace the phrase with the correct wording. You can also add your own.
  
  
• lyRemover. Easily finds and highlights all words ending in ly to let you find and replace adverbs that may be unnecessary. Includes an analyzer that reports the number of ly words found, and an editable exclusion list of words ending in ly that you can skip--like July or apply.
  
  
• Style guide. Quickly access style guide information for all grammar and style categories, such as abbreviations, punctuation usage, capitalization and date/number format. You can modify the included guides or create your own. You can have multiple style guides for each type of writing or publisher that may be working with.
  
  
• U.S. to U.K conversion. Automatically change your document from U.S. spelling and usage to U.K. spelling and usage, and vice-versa. The program comes with over 1,000 U.S. and U.K. words and you can change or add your own. See the description of U.S./U.K. differences.
  
  
• ClichéCleaver. Examine your document for overused clichés and easily replace them with plain language.
  
  
• GenderBender. Make your documents gender-neutral to comply with new guidelines and government regulations. See more information about running GenderBender.
  
  
• Reference Library. Search a complete writing library that includes Strunk’s The Elements of Style, an English Grammar guide and a complete Style Guide.
  
  
• Glossary. A searchable glossary of common writing and editing terms. See the glossary now.
  

• Reference Websites. One-button access to useful websites for writing and editing--poetry, translation, encyclopedias, thesaurus, etc.
  
  
• Backup. Special backup available from most screens to make it easy to keep your precious documents properly backed up. Each backup file is kept in a special backup directory with the date and time added to the name. Plus, you can enter comments for each backup to help identify it.
  
  
• Flag Bookmarks. Click on a flag button to add or remove multiple bookmarks to your document. Then, click another button to move between bookmarks.
  
  
• Place Saver. Click a button to place a graphical marker at your current location. When you open the document next, the document will automatically scroll to that location.
  
  
• Page Format Menu. Quickly access the most common page formats, including 100%, Print Layout, and Outline view as well as special modes that you may not even know about like Line Numbers, Show Style and Document Map.
